Today, Mark Bazer shares some advice for aspiring authors and explains what his lack-of-laptop has to do with his love of Chicago.
What do you love about Chicago?
Elston Avenue. Why don’t more people drive on it? But its greatness lies in the fact that people don’t.
What do you love about (or why do you love) writing in Chicago?
It’s where my computer is, and it’s pretty heavy, so I hate lugging it to other cities. If I ever get a laptop, I’ll update this answer.
What non-conventional advice do you have for writers who want to sell or promote their work?
I don’t know if this is non-conventional. But perform it live. It doesn’t just get the word out, but I think it’s made me a better writer. You know when people are bored.
Mark will be moderating a panel on the Chicago lit scene at the Chicago Writers Conference on September 15th; check out our schedule for more details. You can find out more about Robert on our speaker bio page, or here at his website.
