10 Writers, 2 Readings, 1 Amazing Kick-Off Party

Here at Chicago Writers Conference, we work hard and play hard. That’s why, in addition to the fantastic roster of talks and panels, CWC 2013 includes TWO free and fun events:

Open Books On Friday, September 27 at 6:30 pm Open Books welcomes the CWC 2013 attendees for a night of literary fun! Mix and mingle with the writers, publishers, and agents who’ll be participating in this year’s conference. Check-in for CWC 2013 so you can go fully prepared to Harold Washington Library on Saturday. Enjoy a special presentation of This Much Is True, dubbed “Chicago’s Most Intimate Storytelling Night.” Stephanie Douglass, Larry Kerns, Arlene Malinowski, and Scott Whitehair will enchant guests with their work.

If you have any books in need of a new home, feel free to bring them along. Open Books takes donations, and your support provides literacy programs in the Chicagoland area. You can read their donation guidelines here.

1-Cover photoStop by Brando’s Speakeasy on Saturday, September 28 for food, drinks, and more literary works.  Samantha Hoffman, author of What More Could You Wish For, hosts an evening of readings from local fiction and non-fiction writers. The carefully curated event includes performances by Renee James, Kevin Leahy, Hannah Pittard, Randy Richardson, Chris Rice, and James Finn Garner.

Finally, don’t forget to meet and greet our sponsors at CWC 2013: Chicago Headline Club, TLC Writing Tours, Chicago Writers Association, and the MA/MFA in Creative Writing Program at Northwestern University School of Continuing Studies. Find out how they can help you fulfill your literary goals. We know the conference would not be possible without their support!
