Recap: Podcasting for Writers

RadioGirl’s Margaret Larkin gave some invaluable advice to our Writers Night Out Workshop attendees. Here are three useful tips we learned about podcasting:

1. Keep it short. Fifteen minutes is ideal for a podcast.

2. Develop a marketing plan and promote, promote, promote. Target your audience and seek out the cyber-spaces where they gather. Use message boards, social media, your own email list, and other bloggers and podcasters to spread the word.

3. You can only get away with a crappy podcast if you’re famous. Don’t skimp on quality! You don’t need to spend a lot of money on audio equipment and software, but you do have to make sure that they get the job done. Use a soundproof room. As for the content? Do a trial run. Write it out if you have to.
